Uploading Videos
Last updated
Music videos are released in Composer like any other release. A music video is its own release, with its own UPC and ISRC, separate from the audio single or album it goes with.
Create the video release
- Go to Releases and choose New release.
- For the release type, choose Music video.
- Fill in the details as you would for a single: title, artist, label, genre, release date and stores.
- On the Tracks tab, upload the video file. A music video release holds exactly one video.
- Add artwork. Stores use it as the video's thumbnail.
- Fix anything the Review tab lists, then submit. Our team checks it the same way as an audio release.
Video file requirements
- Format: ProRes 422 HQ in a .mov file (Apple Music asks for ProRes), or H.264 in an .mp4 file (accepted by the other stores).
- Resolution: at least 1920 × 1080.
- Frame rate: between 23.976 and 60 fps.
- Audio: the video needs a stereo audio track.
Composer checks the file as soon as it's uploaded and shows any problem on the track, so you can re-export before submitting.
Lead time
