Dolby Atmos mixes in Composer
Last updated
A Dolby Atmos mix is an immersive version of a track. It's delivered alongside the stereo master, for Spatial Audio on services such as Apple Music, Amazon Music and TIDAL.
What to upload
Export an ADM BWF .wav file from the Dolby Atmos Renderer.
- 48 kHz
- 24-bit
- At most 128 channels
- The same edit as the stereo master. If the two differ in length by more than 2 seconds, you see a warning.
Large files upload in parts. If your connection drops, drop the same file again to carry on.
Adding a mix to a track
- Open the release and go to the Tracks tab.
- Click the track.
- In the Dolby Atmos section, upload the file under Upload the Atmos mix (ADM BWF .wav).
You can also add it from the recording's page in your catalog, on the Dolby Atmos card.
After the upload, Composer reads the file. You see a badge: ADM BWF when it's fine, or Not ADM BWF or Unreadable when it isn't. The track then shows an Atmos badge in the track list.
If the mix has its own ISRC, enter it in Dolby Atmos ISRC (optional). It must be different from the stereo ISRC.
To swap the file, upload under Replace the Atmos mix. To take it off, click Remove.
Music videos can't have a Dolby Atmos mix.
Common problems
- Not an ADM BWF master: the file has no Atmos metadata. Export it from the Dolby renderer as ADM BWF .wav.
- Wrong sample rate or bit depth: re-export at 48 kHz, 24-bit.
These are errors, so you need to fix them before you can submit.
Releases already in stores
To add a mix to a track that's already in stores, start an update on the release first. See Updating a release that's already in stores.
When the update goes out, we send the track's stereo master with the new mix, so stores keep both.
Once a mix is in stores, you can't remove it or change its ISRC.
