Uploading audio and artwork
Last updated
Uploading
Drag files onto an upload area, or click it to choose files. Large files upload in parts. If your connection drops, drop the same file again to carry on.
Uploads count toward your plan's storage.
Audio
Upload masters on the Tracks tab. Each file you drop becomes a track.
- Use WAV or FLAC.
- 16-bit masters must be 44.1 kHz.
- 24-bit masters can be 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 or 192 kHz.
- Deliver stereo.
Cover art
Upload cover art on the Release tab.
- JPEG or PNG.
- Square, at least 3000 × 3000 px and at most 6000 × 6000 px.
- RGB colour, with no transparency.
- No web addresses, prices or store logos.
If AI helped make the artwork, tick the box under the cover. We tell stores.
Automatic checks
After an upload, Composer reads the file. This takes a moment, and the track shows "still processing" until it's done. Then you see a summary, such as "44.1 kHz · 24-bit · stereo · 3:21".
For audio, Composer checks the format, sample rate, bit depth and channels. It also warns you about:
- A true peak above -0.1 dBTP, which may clip after encoding.
- More than 2 seconds of silence at the start.
- A track under 30 seconds.
- A mono master.
For artwork, it checks the format, size, shape, colour and transparency.
Fixing issues
Issues show where you fix them:
- A bar at the top of the Release, Tracks or Stores tab counts what's left. Click Show issues to list them.
- Release issues also show under the matching field.
- Track issues show as a badge on the track row.
Items marked Fix are errors. You must fix them before you can submit. Items marked Check are warnings. You can submit with them, and our team sees them in review.
To fix a file, upload a corrected one.
After a release is in stores
You can't replace the master of a recording that's already in stores. Release the new audio as a new version instead.
You can change cover art on a release in stores through an update. See Updating a release that's already in stores.
